After sashaying down the ramp in beach wear for designer duo Hemant-Nandita at the ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW), Bollywood actress Minissha Lamba yearns for a beach vacation.
“I’m dying to go on a vacation — some place where I can dive into the blue ocean water and sunbathe. I have had a lot of commitments lately so it was hard to take out time for a holiday,” Minissha said.
The actress, who was the showstopper for designer duo Hemant-Nandita, says she went into the holiday mood as soon as she slipped into the designers’ chic resort wear collection, inspired by “a vacation in Ibiza”.
“After wearing this dress, I really think I want to go to Ibiza without all the stress of work,” said Minissha, who walked the ramp confidently in a colourful, flowy dress with prominent work on the neckline.
“I really like what Hemant and Nandita have done because no one in India used to treat beach wear and resort wear as a legitimate couture line. And their line offers everything — from swimsuits to flattering gowns with work for a classy dinner at a resort,” she added.
After her glamorous avatar in “Kidnap”, Minissha is now waiting for the release of Shyam Benegal’s comedy “Well Done Abba”, in which she stars alongside Boman Irani and Sammir Dattani.
“It is a political satire based in a village — it’s a very different movie. It has its message to it but it isn’t preachy or moralistic,” said the actress who made her debut with off beat film “Yahaan”.
The film is inspired by two short stories — “Narsaiyyan Ki Bavdi” by Jeelani Bano and “Phulwa Ka Pul” by Sanjeev, and is produced by Reliance BIG Pictures. It revolves around a Mumbai-based driver who takes a month’s leave to find a groom for his teenage daughter.
Asked if the movie is a conscious effort to experiment with the kind of cinema she has been used to, Minissha said: “There’s no conscious effort. I have always loved whatever I have done.”
Minissha was also seen in “Bachna Ae Haseeno” with Ranbir Kapoor.
Debutant director Ayaan Mukherjee admits his Wake Up Sid is about a younger man dating an older woman but he is appalled by rumours that it revolves around a handsome guy and a not-so-good looking girl.
A few months ago, a nineteen year old Ayan Mukherjee approached Karan Johar with a short and simple script that he might have written during his college classes. Karan Johar was sold on the freshness and youth quotient of the script and catapulted a young boy to the director of ‘Wake Up Sid’. The story revolves around a lazy, unmotivated Mumbaikar Siddharth Mehra ( Ranbir Kapoor ). Sid lives a carefree, responsibility less, superficial life until he bumps into an aspiring writer from Kolkata, Aisha Bannerjee (Konkona Sen Sharma).
With Ayan’s unusual yet peppy pairing of Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona, the film aspires to spread the charm of Youngistan in Bollywood. Such a young star cast and director also ensures that the film is high on energy and entertainment.
With exciting and very relatable trailers ‘Wake Up Sid’ is already showing signs of becoming a rage with the young and promises to be a grosser at the box office too.
