No, that is not Hilary Duff! I have been staring at this ad for 30 minutes, and I cannot find Zooey in it. Creepy.

Kate Beckinsale and Zooey Deschanel are in new ads for Absolut vodka. Below are four of the shots, all taken by photographer Ellen von Unwerth.

Bekcinsale plays dress up in one shot as a blond and dons a gold sequined bikini thing in another. Deschanel also goes blond in a futuristic scenario.

Facebook and Twitter are nice places to work

The dot com boom might have come and gone, but that doesn’t mean that industry still doesn’t have some serious money.  Privately held Facebook and newcomer Twitter both seem like some fun places to park yourselves at a desk.  These places beat my 8 by 8 grey cube and uncomfortable chair.

Quidditch: Coming to a Campus Near You

Clearly the fact that there have been six Harry Potter movies released, (two more in the making) seven books out in stores, and an upcoming theme park in Orlando, doesn’t quite express the extent of society’s obsession with the magic wizardly world. Because college Quidditch (yes, the broomstick-riding sport) is on the rise.

With over 200 colleges expressing their interest in the sport, including Princeton, U-Mass-Amherst and Vassar College, Quidditch is spreading like wildfire. It even has its own site, (for all you nerds out there) where you can have access to the latest Quidditch news and history of the sport.

Similar to soccer, the players try and get the ball, or Quaffle that is, into the opposing goal, except they try and do so while riding around on a broomstick…on the ground.

Sounds…er…awesome.

I don’t quite understand the whole thing. First, riding around on broomsticks is not only ridiculous, but it’s gotta be uncomfortable, right? And what if you get tackled? How does a broomstick shoved between your legs react in a situation like that?

And, more importantly, isn’t the whole point of Quidditch the flying part? I mean, isn’t College Quidditch just soccer…with brooms?

Apparently I’m missing something, because the sport has been around in the real world for four years, and is only getting more and more popular. I get the Harry Potter obsession, but come on, people. This is just absurd.

Kate Beckinsale is on the cover of the upcoming December issue of British Elle Magazine. The 35-year-old English actress looks absolutely stunning posing for the famous magazine’s photoshoot. In the interview, Kate revealed the secrets behind her friendship with Victoria Beckam: “Victoria is lovely and very down-to-earth. She loves taking the p*** out of herself, which is a good thing as far as I’m concerned. We laugh a lot together.”
She added: “Victoria’s line of dresses is fantastic and I’m really proud of her. I’d definitely wear one of them, provided I could fit my bum into it!”

On her body image: “I am a lot more body confident now I’m in my thirties and am in better shape, too. I didn’t have a clue about healthy eating when I was in my twenties – I’d eat a small breakfast and lunch and then have a baked potato for dinner and feel really horrible. Now my typical daily diet is eggs or oatmeal for breakfast, a chicken or vegetable wrap for lunch, then fish and vegetables for dinner. But if someone turns up with cupcakes mid-afternoon, I’ll have one. I’m not aiming to be Gisele. And I’d hate to be one of those people who won’t allow themselves a slice of birthday cake.”

Harry Potter opens today and the folks over at Indy Mogul made a short film in which one H. Potter and MC Voldemort battle it out with rhymes. I love that both The Boy Who Survived and He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named are both hitting below the belt.
